Fax to Tranmere Rovers complaining about their attitude and decision not to change the kick off time of the fixture on November 10th (England v Sweden) which was requested by the club in order to maximise the attendance for and revenue gained from the match.

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to you to express our dismay and frustration at Tranmere Rovers' decision in not agreeing to the kick off time for the forthcoming match between QPR and Tranmere to be switched to an earlier time due to the England friendly match being played on the same day at the very same time.

At a time when Queens Park Rangers FC, and in fact many other football league clubs, are facing financial problems, it would be nice if all clubs could stick together on certain issues. The loss of some possible revenue to QPR FC, and possibly to some of the local food/drink establishments, due to the match in question taking place at the same time as the England game, whilst probably not enough to make a huge difference, will still mean a hole in the pockets to the above. We are rather surprised that you yourselves are not more sympathetic, particularly when looking on your website for an email address to write to at your club, we noted how it is mentioned on the site that due to financial constraints, emailing Tranmere Rovers with feedback/complaints etc is no longer a method available to the public! You obviously are no strangers to financial problems.

Could I also remind you of the fact that 4 years ago QPR were willing to help out Tranmere Rovers at the beginning of the 1997/98 season. With only days remaining, Tranmere asked QPR if they would agree in switching our first division game at Prenton Park, from Saturday 16th August to Friday 15th August with an evening kick off, due to two (or maybe 3?) of your players having been called up for international duties that next week. QPR agreed to your request.

Whilst it is most commendable of your club to think of the inconvenience caused to your travelling fans, it is at least a Saturday fixture, unlike the time when we had to travel up to Tranmere on a Friday afternoon/evening, getting stuck at Birmingham for an hour, and only making the kick off with just moments to spare.

All in the name of our club being accommodating. What a shame Tranmere is apparently reluctant to reciprocate the favour.

We would also like to mention that QPR have Northern based season ticket holders and members, who are also members of our Supporters Trust, who are an hour and a quarter further North than Tranmere and they are prepared to get up a bit earlier for the greater good.

Kind regards

Tracy Stent

Secretary QPR 1st Supporters Trust
