Wigan
Given
the need to maximise income, and taking into account the way the
fixture list has given us just ONE home game between November
21 and December 26, on Monday of this week QPR 1st contacted the
club asking if it might be an idea for QPR to contact Wigan and
see if the league game scheduled for Tuesday 26 February can be
brought forward to December 8, the day of the second round in
the FA Cup.
We
received the following reply from QPR Secretary, Sheila Marson.
I
contacted Wigan Athletic last Monday with a view to bringing forward
the game from February but they already have the 8th pencilled
in for their outstanding game against Notts County which was postponed
earlier in the season due to International call ups.
If
Notts County, however, win their replay tomorrow Wigan Athletic
would be free but they are not willing to play us as it would
mean them having three away games on the trot.
As
this is not a match postponed whereby The Football League will
intervene and insist on a club agreeing to a date, I'm afraid
it is a question of mutual consent and whilst it is a pity, we
are bound by the Rules I'm afraid.
Regards
Sheila
Whilst
the fixture list continues to frustrate clubs and fans together,
it's encouraging to know that under difficult circumstances, QPR
continue to work hard behind the scenes on a variety of issues.
Maurice
Fitzgerald
QPR
1st received a letter from Maurice regarding our article, in which
Maurice's bid for the club featured, in the latest edition of
akutr's. Due to printing errors on our part, the article in question
featured a couple of factual errors. We have since contacted Maurice
to explain it was a genuine error and also print his letter we
received below.
For
the attention of David Price - Chairman
Dear
David,
I read with interest your article regarding the bid by my colleagues
and I. I trust you will give me the opportunty to respond as your
article is factually incorrect.
My
colleagues and I originally submitted an offer with full proof
of funds in June. All parties orginally involved are still part
of the group and nobody has withdrawn. I think you may be confusing
our group with other parties.
In
terms of the offer this has not been rejected and revised proposals
are with the club for consideration. Unforutnately, other offers,
from the very fact that they have not proceeded appear to have
either offered unrealistic elements, or have been financially
unstable with the parties concerend being unable to deliver.
As
you are aware the acceptance of an offer is outside of our control,
although we will continue to try and assist QPR wherever we can.
Regards,
Maurice
Fitzgerald
Turn
up if you love Rangers
One
of our overseas members, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted
us about this initiative. Even though he lives in one of the European
Countries, and is unable to attend the game, he wanted to play
his part in the fans attempts to encourage a healthy crowd for
the attractive fixture against Colchester United on 1st December.
He
has therefore, very kindly, purchased a match ticket for the Upper
Loft in order for someone, lapsed fan or not, to be able to attend
the match. If you, or you know of someone, who would dearly like
to go to this match, but have yet to purchase a ticket, then please
contact Tracy direct on her email address Happy@Superhoops99.Freeserve.Co.Uk
There's only the one, so you'll have to be quick! We'd like to
say a huge thank you to the fan in question who has made this
possible (he knows who he is!) and also a big thank you to John
McCooke for all his hard work in co-coordinating this initiative
and to Neil Truckle for the printing of the leaflets, the last
of which were distributed at the reserves game against Leyton
Orient.
Shareholders
and QPR 1st
Chris
Wright is the majority shareholder in Loftus Road PLC, but as
a fan shareholder, perhaps with just a few hundred shares, you
can still most certainly make a difference. One of our proudest
moments since the formation of the Supporters Trust was the performance
of Bill Butler from QPR 1st at the Extraordinary General Meeting
in May, running rings round Chris Wright's lawyers and forcing
Wright to promise that a proportion of any future profits made
from the sale or redevelopment of Twyford Avenue would go to QPR
FC.
We
were able to achieve that because shareholders had put their trust
in QPR 1st and given us the voting rights for over a million shares.
There is a full and very readable report of the EGM on our website
www.qpr1st.co.uk.
At
future meetings of Loftus Road plc we hope to gain even more proxy
voting rights so that we can fight for the best possible deal
for QPR.
A
CHARTER FOR SHAREHOLDERS
We
would like your views on the QPR 1st Charter for Shareholders.
It's a mixture of what shareholders have already said to us and
what has worked well at other clubs, and it's printed here to
give you an opportunity to comment on it before it's finalised.
Let us know what you think.
QPR
1st intends to:
*
buy shares in the club
* encourage Loftus Road shareholders to join QPR 1st
* inform fans of their rights as shareholders
* encourage fans to attend shareholders' meetings or give their
voting rights to QPR 1st
* use shareholder influence to persuade the Board of QPR to be
more accountable,open, honest and competent.
HOW
CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
We
need more company lawyers, people to stuff envelopes, donations
to help with mail-outs and so on. Can you help to turn the ideas
in the Charter into reality? Please let me know at shares@qpr1st.co.uk
Every offer of help, however small, will be welcomed.

Update
Last
night, prior to the game against Swindon, and following calls
for fans to protest peacefully about the demise of our club, around
200 supporters assembled outside the main entrance. There were
banners focussed on Chris Wright/Chrysalis with radio coverage
and 3 TV crews, including the local BBC interviewing fans.

At
the same time, following an appeal to exiled/overseas fans, 70
emails were sent from overseas fans to QPR FC and the radio station
five live, all outlining their dismay at the demise of the club,
and urging Chris Wright, and his advisers, to do the right thing
for QPR. Thank you to everyone who sent those messages of support.
We have asked the club to auto forward them all onto Chris Wright.
On
Tuesday this week Nick Blackburn told QPR 1st and the LSA that
he wanted to meet us after the Swindon game and asked us to call
off the protest. We declined to cancel the demonstration but agreed
to meet him. So, following last night's tremendous win, five representatives
in all from QPR 1st and the LSA met with Acting Chairman Nick
Blackburn, Chief Executive David Davies and Ross Jones who is
a non executive director.
The
main points to emerge were:
*
the Melzack consortium's lock-out finished two weeks ago
*
talks with the Melzack consortium are continuing but they no longer
have exclusivity
*
the Melzack consortium is not proposing to put any of its own
money into the club. All the funds would be borrowed
*
Nick Blackburn once again denied that Richard Thompson had submitted
a bid for the club
*
Nick Blackburn, Ross Jones and David Davies again refused to tell
us the names and business histories of the individuals who make
up the Melzack consortium. We asked "Is that because you are bound
by confidentiality agreements or is it because you think the fans
have no right to know?" and they replied "Both"
*
The administrators have confirmed that we have enough funding
to complete the season.
We
are in the process of rescheduling our main meeting between the
Club and QPR 1st, hopefully for a date within the next two weeks.
We
would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that supported
the protest both in person and via email, although the protest
has been disparaged by some notably the "Standard" we
believe that the protest will have served notice to Mr Wright
that the supporters patience with the current situation is running
out.

BBC
to film protest
QPR
1st have been in contact with the BBC about tomorrow night's demonstration,
and a television crew will be turning up to film the protests.
Please bring along banners, flags and placards for 7pm if you
can.
Statement
from Nick Blackburn
QPR
1st has received the following statement from Nick Blackburn,
Acting Chairman of QPR FC.
"1.
Eight weeks ago Chris Wright agreed a deal with the Melzack people.
He has not moved the goalposts since. The Melzack people have
not been able to come up with the money as of yet.
2.
The administrators have assured him [Mr Blackburn] that QPR has
enough funding to see the club through until the end of the season.
3,
Richard Thompson is NOT bidding for the club and he has told Chris
Wright so.
4.
The club are still encouraging other bidders to come forward."
Swindon
protest update
Following
the trip to Swansea, where it became clear there is growing anger
directed at Chris Wright, it has been decided to call off the
proposed ring-fencing of the ground on Wednesday, to allow fans
to express their feelings in other ways. The decision to make
the symbolic gesture of linking arms around the stadium was taken
before the Swansea debacle, and the current mood amongst the QPR
support is conducive to something a lot more vocal.
The
decision to postpone the ring-fencing was taken only after careful
consideration. On balance it was felt the mood wasn't right at
present for this type of protest. QPR1st and the LSA will be staging
a protest outside the main entrance to the stadium, on South Africa
Road. This is planned to be peaceful but vocal and members who
wish to support this should assemble at 7.15 (banners will be
welcome). QPR1st understands that other demonstrations are planned
both inside and outside the ground.
If
you would like to register your protest but cannot be at Loftus
road tomorrow please click here.

Qpr

concerns over the effects of possible strike action, you can read

Protest
News
QPR
LSA are leading on a joint demo with Swansea fans on Sunday.
As the game is live in front of the Sky tv cameras, thereby highlighting
the demise of the two clubs, QPR 1st and the LSA urge fans who
are going to Swansea to please take banners and to also print
on a4 size paper the slogans 'save the swans' on one side, and
'save QPR' on the other.

United We Stand
In
view of the recent unrest at our beloved club, QPR 1st are calling
on all fans to participate in a ringfencing event at Loftus Road
prior to our home game against Swindon next Wednesday evening,
November 21st. The aim of the ringfence is to show an overwhelming
sign of solidarity that will signify to Chris Wright, the club,
and any prospective bidders that the supporters of this club stand
together in our quest to protect QPR FC and our current ground.
It will be a show of strength emphasising how QPR fans are determined
to stick together. And it will also be a plea to Chris Wright
asking him to do the right thing for Queens Park Rangers Football
Club.
So
what do we mean by a ringfencing event? Basically we are asking
fans to link/hold hands outside around the stadium to form a chain
gang, ringing and protecting the ground. As the game against Swindon
is an evening kick off, we are also asking fans to bring along
torches/candles to give the event the touch of an emotional nighttime
vigil. Completely peaceful. Yet one which will speak volumes as
regards supporter solidarity.
There
is a great deal of congestion around the ground on matchdays but
we have no reaon to believe the police will object to this demonstration
which is to begin at 7.15 and finish 10 minutes after kick-off
when we will take our seats in the ground.
For
the ringing of Loftus Road to be a success the participation of
many fans will be needed. Please, come along with torches/candles
and let's all make a unified statement to Chris Wright and the
club.
If
you are interested in helping with the arranging/participation/or
anything else regarding this, whether it be on the night or in
advance then please contact us.
We also urge all fans to spread the word to any friends/family
members who will be attending the game that evening about the
peaceful ground ringing.
Also,
on that same night, there will be a leaflet distribution, the
aim of which is to target those fans without Internet access regarding
the following initiative

Silence
not golden for QPR 1st members
Initial results in from 365 QPR 1st members show
that 40 % say we should oppose this deal, 12 % say we should support
and 48 % say stay neutral. Clearly there is no mandate to move
from QPR 1st's stated policy of neutrality to one of opposition,
but the fact that only 12% support the deal is an indication that
the supporters are simply not satisfied with either the quality
or quantity of the information released about this bid. There
is a huge fear that deals done behind closed doors will only be
in the interest of Chris Wright and the bidders and not in the
long-term interests of QPR Football Club. more...
Tranmere Update
Over
50 faxes were sent to Tranmere Rovers FC last week regarding their
refusal to change the kick off time for tomorrow's game at Loftus
Road and yesterday evening we received a reply from Tranmere Rovers.
Basically they outlined
a
couple of points from their own perspective asking: a. why our
board refused to change the game to the Sunday?
b.
why their fans could not have been offered a discount for their
inconvenience?
c.
why did our Chairman leave it so late in contacting them about
the fixture change? (Monday the 15th October when the deadline
was apparently Friday 12th)
Fair
points but as far as we are aware:
a.
Wasps rugby club have a home game on Sunday
b.
the whole point of asking them to change the kick off time was
as an incentive to encourage more fans to come to Loftus Road
on that particular day for fear of loss of revenue so how could
QPR have possibly offered discounted tickets
c.
4 years ago, as already mentioned, QPR agreed to a fixture date
and time with only days remaining. Why no reciprocation? Interesting
comments about our Chairman as well because as far as we are all
aware we don't have a current Chairman!
Thank
you to everybody who sent faxes and for the support shown as regards
this matter. Enjoy the game tomorrow everyone.
We
also ask the club to think about not announcing the England result
and playback the video of it after the game in the club bars -
thus some much needed revenue for the club via all those pints
consumed.

Response
from Brian Melzack and other news
Brian
Melzack contacted the QPR 1st Committee this morning by phone,
he confirmed that he is not in a position to make any statement
other than saying "As we speak, the deal is still on".
Chris
Leach also spoke with a member of the committee this morning,
we will be maintaining contact with Chris, who believes that further
developments will happen over the coming days.

Open email to Brian Melzack
Due to the mounting rumours and lack of information
about the Melzack consortium bid, we have sent an open email to
Mr Melzack which we copy below:
Dear Mr Melzack
You will be aware that a number of rumours have
been circulating regarding your consortiums bid for QPR.
These have now reached fever pitch amid speculation
the consortium proposes to fund the purchase by using the Loftus
Road ground as a bond or security.
We urge you to either contact us by return or
make a statement to the press or on the various QPR forums that
will stop these rumours and speculations in their tracks and allay
the fears of QPR supporters.
We will post this email on the QPR 1st web site
and the forums to try and calm supporters while we await your
response.
Kind regards
QPR 1st Committee
As soon as we have a response we will post a further
update.
QPR
1st seeks to protect Loftus Road Stadium
"QPR
1st have approached a number of luminaries associated with the
football club and its locale and have as a result received pledges
from leading figures from the worlds of commerce, sports, politics
and the arts who would be willing to act as trustees to the loftus
road stadium. QPR 1st strongly supports any mechanism that protects
the ground from the threat of profiteering and thus places any
bids above such suspicion."

Update
on takeover bid
In
relation to the imminent change of ownership of Queens Park Rangers
Football Club and Loftus Road Stadium, QPR 1st issues the following
statement:
"QPR
1st understands that the deal fronted by Brian Melzack is set
to be completed before the end of the week. We believe at this
point an announcement will be made in relation to the identity
of the existing Loftus Road plc personnel who will fill the key
positions of Chairman and Chief Executive.
QPR
1st has no further details to date, but will continue working
vigorously to seek answers to the open questions posed on this

that until the questions are answered to the satisfaction of the
QPR 1st Committee and QPR 1st members, as a Supporters Trust committed
to protecting the future of Queens Park Rangers Football Club,
we remain unable either to support or oppose the takeover.
QPR
1st will release further details as and when we learn more, and
will continue to take note of the comments made by members in
